Fyne Audio Cubitt 5 heads to Japan in November with TV and turntable inputs

SNACK: 3-line summary

  • Fyne Audio Cubitt 5 is scheduled to launch in Japan in November 2026.
  • TV audio uses HDMI ARC with stereo PCM, while the two speakers still need a wired connection.
  • A built-in MM phono stage lets compatible turntables connect without a separate phono preamp.

Fyne Audio’s Cubitt 5 is scheduled to launch in Japan in November 2026 through distributor AXISS, according to AV Watch. Built-in amplification, a DAC and an MM phono stage let one speaker pair serve a TV and a compatible turntable without adding a separate amplifier or phono preamp.

Red I’d leave the TV and turntable connected and just switch inputs. Fewer separate boxes to find shelf space for sounds good to me.

Nea I’d like to give a familiar game soundtrack record a quiet listen on the same pair used for TV. I wonder which parts I’d notice when the music has my full attention.

TV audio needs ARC and stereo PCM

The TV must support HDMI ARC. Connect its ARC-labelled port to the primary speaker’s HDMI ARC input and set the TV’s audio output to stereo PCM: Cubitt 5 accepts 2.0 PCM over this connection.

That HDMI cable does not make the whole system wireless. The primary and secondary speakers are linked by speaker cable, and a power connection is still required.

Choose PHONO or AUX to match the turntable

For a turntable with an MM cartridge and no phono preamp, use the dedicated PHONO RCA input. If the turntable already outputs a line-level signal, use the AUX line input instead, so that signal does not pass through another phono stage.

Optical digital and Bluetooth inputs provide other ways to connect sources. The rear USB port is for firmware updates only, not music playback or use as a USB DAC.

JPY 136,000 per pair, in five finishes

The Japanese price is JPY 136,000 per pair. Each speaker stands 260mm tall, a useful measurement when checking space beside a TV or turntable.

The five finishes are Olive Green, Pebble Grey, Pearl Titanium, Midnight Black and Arctic White.
