- Owner-replaceable cells in both earbuds and the wireless charging case
- Shipping since September 3; US price $299.95
- Replacement-cell pricing and long-term parts availability remain unpublished

Sennheiser’s MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 began shipping on September 3, but its most consequential feature may surface years later: owners can replace the batteries in both earbuds and the wireless charging case. The design creates a repair path for aging cells, provided replacement parts remain obtainable.

Three batteries, all within reach
Each earbud contains a replaceable 72 mAh cell, while the case uses a replaceable 760 mAh battery. Sennheiser includes a battery-replacement tool, and its support instructions specify a Phillips PH000 screwdriver. The September 5 SoundGuys report includes photographs of the access points in both parts of the product.
The design is not unprecedented. SoundGuys cites the Fairphone Fairbuds as an earlier true-wireless model with replaceable batteries in both the earbuds and case.

The part Sennheiser has not priced
The official US price is $299.95. Published product information does not list prices for BA 501, BA 502 or equivalent official replacement cells, nor does it state how long those parts will remain available. Local supply, replacement cost and warranty handling will determine how useful the serviceable design remains over time.
Battery claims keep ANC on and off separate
Sennheiser rates the earbuds for up to 12 hours per charge with ANC off and up to 6 hours with ANC on, plus up to 40 hours total with the charging case under its stated test conditions. An eight-minute charge is rated for up to one additional hour.
The earbuds combine a 7 mm TrueResponse dynamic driver with Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint, hybrid adaptive ANC and SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless support. Qi charging is included, while IP54 dust and splash resistance applies only to the earbuds. Independent tests of fit, sound, ANC and call quality will fill in what the manufacturer’s launch claims cannot.
Snackgirls react
Nea A replaceable cell becomes a long-term advantage only when the right part is still easy to buy years later. I’d want a clear answer on supply and warranty handling.
AIKO A PH000 screwdriver entering an earbud conversation is my kind of plot twist. Tiny screws rarely headline premium audio, yet here they open the route to a battery swap.
