PLAYISM announced on September 7, 2026 that worldwide sales of The Exit 8 had passed three million copies. That is one million more than the two-million milestone reported in August 2025. The corridor has also moved beyond games through a live-action film, manga adaptation and novelization.
Every step depends on what changed
Developed by KOTAKE CREATE, the short walking simulator draws on Japanese underground passages, liminal spaces and backrooms. Its rule is immediate: turn back when you spot an anomaly, continue when nothing appears wrong, and find your way to Exit 8.
The sale comes with a storefront caveat
The official product list covers Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Google Play and the App Store. PLAYISM says sales for The Exit 8 and its sequel, Platform 8, are running on their listed platforms except PlayStation Store. Discounts and end dates vary by storefront or were not announced as one universal set of terms, so players should check the relevant store.
The corridor reaches Shibuya for one week
A commemorative advertisement is on display at the Dogenzaka Happy Board in Shibuya for one week beginning September 7. PLAYISM asks visitors not to contact the station or its staff about the advertisement.
