Snackgirls react

Red: I want to step into the Koprulu Sector instead of directing it from above. Show me what kind of trouble waits beyond the first landing zone.

AIKO: “Open-world shooter” is confirmed, but perspective and multiplayer are still unresolved variables. The specification sheet has plenty of blank cells.

Blizzard has announced a new STARCRAFT game, but it is not presenting this one as another real-time strategy sequel. Revealed during the BlizzCon 2026 Opening Ceremony, the project is an original open-world shooter set in the Koprulu Sector and targeting Spring 2030.

A different route through the Koprulu Sector

The genre change is the defining part of the announcement. STARCRAFT has long been associated with commanding armies from above; the new game instead puts shooting and an open world at the center of its official description.

The unanswered questions remain broad

Blizzard has not named the launch platforms, price, editions, preorder plans, multiplayer structure, camera perspective, or playable factions. With the release still scheduled several years away, those practical details remain open.
