SNACK: 3-line summary
- Call of Duty announced Server Culling, a new anti-cheat protection for Modern Warfare 4.
- It can withhold hidden enemy locations from a player’s device, but it does not guarantee an end to wallhacks.
- Coverage includes launch maps, DMZ and Combat Outpost, plus new seasonal multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone maps from Season 1 onward.
Call of Duty introduced Server Culling for Modern Warfare 4 on October 2, 2026. The announced system can withhold an opponent’s location data from a player’s device when that player should not know where the opponent is, denying cheat software information it could otherwise expose.
Call of Duty — Official Server Culling explanation
The video explains how the server limits the enemy location data sent to a player’s device.
Less location data for wallhacks to exploit
The developer’s explanation rests on a straightforward limit: cheat software cannot reveal information it never receives. IGN reports that Server Culling uses map occlusion layers.
Activision told IGN that legitimate players’ matches would play as intended and described the system as a major new obstacle for cheat developers. Those are the company’s claims, not independently measured results. Server Culling works alongside other anti-cheat measures; it does not replace them or guarantee that wallhacks and other cheating will disappear.

Snackgirls react
Red: I want a close duel to come down to aim and timing, without wondering whether someone could see me through a wall.
Nea: The occlusion layers make me curious about those tense moments around a corner. I’d like the surprise of meeting an opponent to stay intact.
Launch coverage and Warzone’s Season 1 scope
The announced protection covers every map available at Modern Warfare 4’s launch, including DMZ and Combat Outpost.
From Season 1 onward, the scope also includes new live-season maps for multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone. Warzone players should not assume that the new protection is already active across every map in the current game.
IGN lists Modern Warfare 4’s launch as October 23, 2026, on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
