SNACK: 3-line summary
- Hasegawa is reissuing its 1/72 VF-11B Thunderbolt fighter-mode assembly kit from Macross Plus.
- The glue-required model features linked moving main wings and does not transform into other modes.
- Manufacturer dispatch is scheduled for October 13, 2026, with Japanese retail release expected around October 16.
The VF-11B Thunderbolt’s fighter silhouette is returning to Hasegawa’s lineup in a 1/72 kit reissue, complete with linked moving main wings. It recreates the aircraft Isamu Dyson pilots as the YF-21’s chase plane in the opening of the Macross Plus OVA, including its distinctive nose canards.

Snackgirls react
Kirari: Those nose canards make me want to try a low front-angle photo. I’d look for an angle that really shows off the fighter silhouette.
Red: I want to see how the wing linkage goes together. I’d be tempted to keep moving one wing just to watch the other follow.
Linked wings and airbrakes you choose during the build
The left and right main wings move together through a linkage. The airbrakes are an assembly choice: build them open or closed. This is a glue-required fighter-mode model, with no transformation into Gerwalk or Battroid modes.
Hasegawa describes a block-based assembly design with large mating joints. The kit contains 119 parts, and the model measures 216.1 mm long with a wingspan of 199.3 mm.
A B-type 30 mm six-barrel gunpod and a seated pilot figure are included. The silk-screen-printed decals include original markings for generic mass-production aircraft, and the package illustration is by Hidetaka Tenjin.

Dispatch on October 13, retail around October 16
Hasegawa lists October 13, 2026 as the manufacturer dispatch date, with Japanese retail release expected around October 16. The tax-inclusive Japanese list price is ¥3,080. If you are planning a store visit, check the retailer’s arrival notice rather than treating the dispatch date as confirmation of shelf stock.
