JR West released 13 everyday goods made from unused 500 Series Shinkansen seat fabric on October 14, 2026, for Railway Day. The range takes the train’s upholstery pattern into everyday life.

Snackgirls react
Kirari: I love the idea of turning train colors into Licca dresses. I’d like to put the two designs side by side for a photo.
Nea: I’m curious how the same seat pattern looks on different everyday objects. I’d like to see which details become easier to notice.
Spare upholstery finds an everyday use
The material is moquette, a fabric used for seat upholstery. It had been kept new and unused for replacing the 500 Series’ upholstery, rather than recovered from seats after passenger use.
Licca dresses and a two-piece TOMIX set
Two Licca doll products joined the lineup on October 14: one wearing a 500 Series Shinkansen dress and the other a Doctor Yellow dress.
Also released that day, the TOMIX Komu 1 freight-car models come as a single two-piece set. The N-gauge models are at 1:150 scale and feature the official retirement poster visuals for the 500 Series and Doctor Yellow.

Two earlier collections mark different milestones
The announcement also includes two ranges released on October 1: 11 products commemorating the 500 Series Shinkansen’s upcoming retirement in 2027, and six celebrating 30 years of the 283 Series Ocean Arrow. These are earlier releases, with Ocean Arrow marking a service anniversary rather than retirement.

Find the collections in the official shops
The official entry points are the WESTER Mall Railway Day feature and the DISCOVER WEST mall Railway Day feature. Which shop carries an item and when sales begin depend on the product; some items have limited quantities and may sell out.
