RuneScape Reignited is canceled, but December’s free trial stays

RuneScape Reignited will not go ahead, but December’s free membership trial is still planned for the game’s existing worlds. In the October 15 statement below, Jagex’s Mod Ryan explains the decision to abandon the fresh-start mode.

No separate Reignited worlds or economy

The cancellation reverses the fresh-start plan announced on October 3. Mod Ryan said player feedback showed that Reignited had missed the mark, and Jagex will not move forward with it.

This is a cancellation, not a delay: the separate Reignited worlds and new economy will not launch. The main RuneScape MMO is not canceled or shutting down.

Who can join December’s membership trial?

The trial is scheduled for December 2–12, 2026. Jagex describes it as a 10-day trial; exact start and end times are still to be confirmed.

Eligibility will be assessed as of December 2:

• New characters are eligible.
• Existing characters qualify only if they have had no active RuneScape membership since June 2, 2026. Any active membership during that period makes them ineligible.

No purchase or subscription is required to take part. Eligible characters can access RuneScape Members worlds and content during the trial, but Old School RuneScape is excluded. Membership is required outside the trial period.

Players who are ineligible will not receive refunds for subscriptions or purchases.

December’s quest updates are still planned

Adventure Guide and the first part of Remastered Journey remain planned for December 2, alongside other improvements.

Plugins are planned for Monday, October 19. The 2027 roadmap also remains in place, though those plans are subject to change.
