Jamo introduced its HYG 5 flagship home Wi-Fi speaker on October 20, combining a network streamer, amplifier and active speaker system in one enclosure. Its palm-wave gesture offers a simple way back to your music: it wakes the speaker from standby and resumes the last source you used.

Your usual music apps, fewer separate boxes
Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect are built in, letting you select the HYG 5 from a compatible service app. For these supported network sources, there is no separate streamer or amplifier to add.
AirPlay 2 and Google Cast also support casting and multi-room playback, each within its own ecosystem. If you want music in several rooms, check which system your other speakers support before planning the setup.
RCA makes room for wired sources, with one vinyl condition
Bluetooth 5.0 supports SBC and AAC, while a stereo RCA line input accommodates wired sources such as a CD player’s line output.
For vinyl, that RCA connection needs a line-level signal. Use a turntable with a built-in phono preamp, or connect a separate phono stage between the turntable and the HYG 5.
Angled drivers and an adjustable warm glow
Two 2.5-inch full-range drivers point upward and outward, accompanied by a 4-inch down-firing woofer. Jamo says the layout is intended to spread sound more broadly around the room.
Custom-knitted fabric wraps the enclosure, and a sensor adjusts the warm light ring to the room’s brightness. The Jamo Play app for iOS and Android lets you create a custom EQ and adjust the light—useful settings to explore once you have chosen where to place the speaker.
