SNACK: 3-line summary
- The original English Team Rocket Dark Dragonair searches for an Evolution card with Evolutionary Light.
- The card goes into your hand, not into play, and need not belong to Dark Dragonair’s evolution line.
- You may use the Pokémon Power once during your turn before attacking; Tail Strike is a separate attack.
The original English Team Rocket Dark Dragonair 33/82 can help you find an Evolution card, but it does not evolve a Pokémon for you. Its Pokémon Power, Evolutionary Light, puts the chosen card into your hand—not directly into play.

Snackgirls react
Kirari: A Dark Pokémon being the helpful one? That contrast makes me want to give this card a closer look.
Nea: I’d enjoy keeping this as a little piece of card-design history. Showing the choice before it joins your hand is the sort of small ritual I’d linger over.
The search can reach other evolution lines
Once during your turn, before your attack, you may search your deck for an Evolution card. Show it to your opponent, put it into your hand, and shuffle your deck afterward. The wording does not limit your choice to Dark Dragonite or another card from Dark Dragonair’s own evolution line.
The Power cannot be used if Dark Dragonair is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed.
Tail Strike has the three-Colorless attack cost
Tail Strike is a separate attack with a cost of three Colorless Energy symbols; those symbols are not a printed cost for Evolutionary Light.
Its printed damage is 20+. Flip one coin: on heads, Tail Strike does 20 damage plus 20 more damage; on tails, it does 20 damage.
