Kagomedia has announced the Kinoko no Yama Wireless Earphones Pro, keeping the mushroom-chocolate shape for a second-generation pair of true wireless earbuds. They are not on sale yet: Makuake crowdfunding is scheduled to open on November 1 at noon JST, and enough orders must come in before production can proceed.

Snackgirls react

Red That mushroom stem makes me want a side-on look at the fit. I’m curious how it sits once the memory-foam tip settles in.

Nea I’d like to chat with a game fan from another country about favorite characters. I wonder how the translation would handle all those names.

The production target and the early price are separate

The campaign is scheduled to run through December 13 using an All-or-Nothing model. At least 1,000 orders must be received for the earbuds to be made; production is not yet confirmed.

A separate limit applies to the early crowdfunding price of ¥29,800 including tax: it covers the first 1,000 units and is available only during the opening 24 hours. Both limits apply to that price tier. It is not a standard retail price or an offer covering the whole campaign.

Four changes beneath the mushroom shape

Kagomedia highlights four improvements over the original model:

  • Sound: revised bass and treble balance, along with improvements to total harmonic distortion (THD). The company describes the tuning as delivering stronger bass and clearer highs.
  • Touch controls: a gold-plated flexible printed circuit (FPC), intended to make touch detection more reliable.
  • Fit: memory-foam ear tips that conform to the shape of the ear.
  • Charging-case standby: lower idle power consumption, with a claimed standby time of approximately 81 days, roughly three times that of the original model. This is charging-case standby, not continuous music playback.

Translation returns, with an app to check first

AI translation carries over. The advertised total of 144 comprises 74 languages plus 70 dialects and accents, not 144 distinct languages. Before backing, check that your phone and operating system support the WasTrans app; internet conditions can affect translation speed.

Kagomedia runs the project under an official license from Meiji to use the snack’s shape. Meiji is not the seller.

Despite their appearance, these earbuds are not food. Accidental swallowing can cause choking, so keep them out of reach of small children and pets.
