SNACK: 3-line summary
- Digital Foundry’s Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer tests found higher input latency on Switch 2 than on PS5.
- Portable play showed the slowest aiming response under the tested wireless-controller conditions.
- 6v6 multiplayer generally stays near its 60fps target, but that does not guarantee PS5-like responsiveness.
Modern Warfare 4’s multiplayer performance on Switch 2 comes with a catch: Digital Foundry’s wireless-controller tests found slower input response than on PS5, particularly in portable mode. Its video analysis examines that response gap alongside the port’s frame-rate performance.
What the wireless-controller tests measured
In its October 30 technical review, Digital Foundry reported the following multiplayer input-latency results. The Switch 2 tests used a wireless Switch 2 Pro Controller, while the PS5 comparison used a wireless DualSense.
- PS5 at 60Hz: 49.1ms
- Switch 2 in docked mode: 80.7ms
- Switch 2 in portable mode: 100.0ms
Portable readings ranged from 83ms to 125ms. These are controller input-latency measurements, not network ping or internet latency, and they describe the tested setup—not every controller or configuration.

Snackgirls react
Red: I’d want to try quick aim adjustments in portable mode. In a close match, I want the crosshair keeping up with my hands.
AIKO: 60fps is not a responsiveness warranty. The frame-rate counter has a rather limited job description.
Near 60fps does not mean the same aiming response
Digital Foundry found that 6v6 multiplayer mostly runs near its 60fps target. Busy firefights, smoke and the riot-shield visor can push performance into the 50s or high 40s.
Frame rate and input latency are separate measures. Even when multiplayer runs near its target, the tested Switch 2 setup responds more slowly than the PS5 comparison. For players interested in portable competitive matches, that means looking beyond smooth motion to how quickly aiming inputs register.
