Panasonic announced its RB-HJ800 wireless over-ear headphones on November 6, promising about 72 hours of continuous playback with noise cancelling switched on. That long runtime comes with a practical detail for anyone planning to use the included audio cable: wired listening still needs battery power.

Snackgirls react
Red I’d go straight for that bass button with a game soundtrack or some electronic music. I want to hear what the boost does to a big beat.
Nea I’d like to settle into a long soundtrack playlist without a charging break. I was imagining the cable as a fallback, but it needs battery power too.
What the 72-hour figure includes
Panasonic rates continuous playback at about 72 hours with active noise cancellation (ANC) on, or about 100 hours with it off. In wireless use, hybrid ANC uses microphones outside and inside the earcups to detect noise. An ambient mode lets surrounding sound through when you want to hear more of your surroundings.
The headphones use 40mm dynamic drivers, with a physical bass-enhancer button that switches a low-frequency boost on or off.

Wired listening still needs battery power
The included detachable analogue audio cable allows wired listening, but the headphones must remain switched on, so the cable will not keep them playing after the battery runs out. Wired noise cancellation uses feedforward processing only, rather than the hybrid system used wirelessly. Charging is via USB-C, but the charging cable is not included, and the headphones cannot be used while charging.
Three colours and two ways to fold
The black, cream white and reddish brown finishes take their cues from traditional Japanese colours. For storage, the earcups can fold flat or into a more compact shape.
AV Watch reports a November 19 launch in Japan and an expected street price of around ¥15,000; there is no fixed suggested retail price. Panasonic’s November 6 announcement gives a broader mid-November 2026 launch window and warns that the release or supply could be delayed.
