Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO plans cross-play—but the beta is after summer 2027

SNACK: 3-line summary

  • Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO has a limited cross-play beta planned for after summer 2027.
  • The announced beta covers PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam; Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 are not listed.
  • The free challenge modes can be played without the paid Super Limit Breaking NEO DLC.

Cross-play is on the roadmap for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, but the first planned step is a limited beta after summer 2027. Bandai Namco’s October 9 second-anniversary announcement also outlines free challenge modes, with content and schedules varying by platform.

Snackgirls react

Red: Five players, each with a character and their own duel? I’d want to grab my main and jump in with a group.

Nea: The Ki Aura reward caught my eye. I’d like to see whether I can give a favorite character an aura that suits their story.

Three platforms are listed for the beta

The announced cross-play test covers PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 are not listed for this beta.

There is no exact opening date or registration method yet, and a full cross-play release timetable has not been confirmed. The planned test should not be mistaken for cross-play being available now.

Tower of Power climbs toward a five-player team mode

The official Dragon Ball site schedules the free Tower of Power Solo update for this winter. Enemies become tougher as you climb the floors, and clearing the mode earns Ki Aura customization.

The free team mode is planned for around spring 2027. Up to five players each control one character and fight individual one-on-one battles—the group does not attack a boss simultaneously.

The free challenges do not require the paid DLC

The official Dragon Ball site describes Mission 100 SP and Survival Mode SP as upgraded versions of two existing modes, in which characters trained in Limit Breaker Journey can take on enemies with enhanced stats. Both modes can be played without Super Limit Breaking NEO, while the character-training progression is tied to that paid DLC.

Super Limit Breaking NEO is already available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. Its Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 release is planned for spring 2027.

For Nintendo players, that spring window refers to the paid DLC.
