Mushishi café puts matcha moss and cotton-candy clouds on the menu

SNACK: 3-line summary

  • The Mushishi Exhibition café has revealed five food and drink items inspired by the manga’s stories.
  • The menu will be served October 31–November 30, 2026, at Gallery Zenon in Kichijoji, Tokyo.
  • Both the café and merchandise area require an exhibition ticket; food and drinks cost extra.

Moss soaked in Mushishi’s fictional life-water becomes a matcha pancake, while a cloud-like creature takes shape as cotton candy in a drink. These are two of the dishes coming to Gallery Zenon in Kichijoji, Tokyo, from October 31, 2026, alongside the Mushishi Exhibition: Tokyo Return / FINAL. An exhibition ticket is required to use the café, and food and drinks are charged separately.

Snackgirls react

Kirari: That green matcha moss next to the white cotton-candy cloud—I’d want to fit both in one photo before picking up my fork!

Nea: I’d like to reread Suzuri ni Sumu Shiro with the drink’s wooden bookmark tucked into the book. It’s a small connection to the story I’d enjoy keeping after the exhibition.

Moss-green pancakes and a cloud made of cotton candy

The five-item menu draws on individual stories and their imagery, with an accompanying bonus for each dish or drink. All prices below include tax.

  • Midori no Za — ¥1,480: A Japanese-style pancake topped with matcha powder and matcha Mont Blanc cream evokes moss soaked in the story’s fictional life-water. A celebratory drink accompanies it, with alcoholic and nonalcoholic options; choosing nonalcoholic reduces the price by ¥110. An AR card is included.
  • Kagari no Kou — ¥880: Genmaicha tea is served with bubu arare rice crackers, which can be sprinkled into the tea or eaten separately. Includes a sticker.
  • Omoi Mi — ¥1,780: A set meal recalls the abundant harvest brought to a village by the fictional Narazu fruit. Includes a special chopstick sleeve illustrated on both sides.
  • Suzuri ni Sumu Shiro — ¥1,280: Cotton candy represents the manga’s cloud-like creature, paired with konpeito sugar candy and a lactic-acid drink. Includes a wooden bookmark.
  • Hanamadoi — ¥1,180: Jelly containing cherry-blossom petals is combined with sakura-syrup soda and strong Earl Grey tea, evoking the flowers of the story’s bewitching tree. Includes a sticker.

The AR card can be used for photos with a camera-equipped smartphone or tablet. Menu photos are illustrative, and dishes may vary with ingredient availability.

Original drawings, reproduced color artwork, and Ginko goods

The exhibition features original drawings from Yuki Urushibara’s Mushishi. For conservation reasons, the color artwork is displayed as high-resolution reproductions produced under the supervision of the Afternoon editorial team.

Admission includes one randomly selected bookmark from five designs, while supplies last. The merchandise lineup includes a Ginko acrylic stand and square Chara Fine Boards, though individual items may sell out.
