teenage engineering’s EP-35 K.O.-AMP is now available in Japan through Media Integration. It brings Bluetooth and USB music playback together with guitar and microphone inputs, letting you play along with a backing track through the same speaker. A built-in battery and carry handle make the speaker/amplifier portable, with no separate speaker cabinet needed.

Snackgirls react
Red I’d play a guitar riff over a backing track, then try it through each effect. I suspect I’d lose track of practice time.
Nea I’d like to hear a favorite game soundtrack through two units set left and right. I’m curious how the quieter passages would fill the room.
Eight effects each for guitar and microphone
The top panel has a 3.5 mm stereo line input, a 6.35 mm mono input for guitar or bass, and an XLR microphone input alongside the wireless and USB connections. Guitar and microphone inputs each have eight effects, with separate dials for selecting an effect and adjusting its intensity.

Not every USB port carries audio
The USB port beside the line input connects to a computer or phone as an audio interface, handling playback and sending audio to a computer for recording. The ep-plug port is a USB audio host and accessory connection, while the USB-C port inside the rear compartment is charging-only. For optimum charging speed and output power, the guide recommends a USB-PD charger rated for at least 45 W; lower-power chargers can limit both.
A single EP-35 plays summed mono. For Bluetooth listening, Auracast can link multiple EP-35 units as one Bluetooth device, with two units assigned left and right for stereo.

Rear storage with room for a 500 ml can
The rear compartment can hold cables, accessories or a 500 ml can, and a camp light illuminates the space. The can shown in AV Watch’s photo is 350 ml. There is no cooling or warming function.
The EP-35’s Japan price is JPY 69,850. Mounting an EP-133 K.O. II sampler on its side requires the separately sold K.O. DOCK KIT, and the sampler itself is not included.
